Made mention of this briefly in an earlier entry, but there is an email going around the web about Senator Obama which pissed me off. I will not post the email on this blog, because its garbage.
Yet when checking CNN today see that Obama has started defending it as well.

After reading this and receiving that awful email for the 5th time last week I finally decided to respond to it with the following email.
MY RESPONSE
"Don't know about you, but I appreciated the author CAPITALIZING the words HUSSEIN, ATHEIST, RADICAL, and MUSLIM. I would not have realized the point the author was trying to get across without those words being capitalized. The message of hate and intolerance after all, were quite subliminal.
The 1st day I got this email, before yesterday, was the day after Obama won Iowa and appeared to be on the way to the nomination. So the timing of the email was pretty telling. If Hillary had won Iowa, which hateful, crude, and sexist email would have been floating around the World Wide Web? If Edwards won, sure that there would have been an email about him being an,,,,,,,, ambulance chasing lawyer.
Other than the blatant XENOPHOBIC and RACIST message of the email, found it fitting that NONE of the ways the author attacked Obama had ANYTHING to do with his ideas or policies for the country. (was I subiliminal enough?)
My favorites were....1st, Obama's mother may have been an Atheist? Since when did the religion, views, or anything of an individuals mother qualify, or disqualify them for any job? Let alone the qualifications of someone running for President. Does anyone blame Barbara Bush's Episcopalianism on the fact that her son led us into a poorly planned war? If they do, they are ALMOST as big an idiot as the author of the Obama email.
2nd, Obama's middle name is Hussein? The stock market is suffering, the value of the dollar is plummeting, and the banking community about to go bankrupt without major investments and bail outs from foreign countries. But, don't think about that because, a candidates middle name DWARFS the importance of candidates economic plan.
Let's look at some of our greatest past Presidents for examples.
-- FDR's middle name was 'Delano', which is kinda weird sounding, dare I say even a little feminine? In 1932 if Herbert Hoover used the strategy to attack FDR's middle name,,, he may have won 8 states against FDR instead of instead of 6. FYI, Hoover, who led us into the Great Depression, had a VERY AMERICAN middle name, Herbert Clark Hoover.
-- Harry S. Truman's middle name was 'S' as far as anyone knows. That's right, just 'S' and it didn't stand for anything specific. What could that 'S' have really meant? Socialist? Sucker? Sodomite? If the author of the Obama email wrote this email in the 1948 elction, the 'S' probably would have stood for,,, 'Stalin'.
-- Abraham Lincoln didn't even have a middle name. How UNAMERICAN is that?!?! Maybe that was the reason we had a Civil War? Lincoln not having a middle name!!
The author of this email is obviously a proponent of hatred, ignorance, and bigotry. The hope of this email is one thing, to use FEAR to scare people to not support Obama. Not issues, pure fear. If you don't like Obama, that's your choice, but base it on something substantive, other than the writings of what I imagine, is a very sad, very bitter, hate filled person"

ARE YOU KIDDING!?!? This is one of the most outrageous, pieces of crap I have ever read. It is completely and utterly FALSE and I want to make sure you all have the FACTS so that more people don't get brainwashed.
First off, no proof is offered by those who make these claims -- no sightings of Barack Obama attending a mosque, no pictures of him reading the Qur'an, praying to Mecca, or observing Islamic holidays with his family. The entire case, such as it is, rests on a confused and error-ridden recitation of Obama's upbringing and purported childhood influences. It also rests on -- or exploits -- a deep fear and mistrust of the Muslim faith.
In fact, I think it is refreshing to have someone running for office who is not your stereotypical candidate--someone who has a diverse upbringing, someone who wasn't born into the political elite, someone who understands the common man. And I would like to state that I think that there are several candidates who would make a great president, including both republicans and liberals.
Here are some questions with their real answers (based on research, not on blind ignorance):
Did Obama's mother marry a Muslim named Lolo Soetoro who "educated his stepson as a good Muslim by enrolling him in one of Jakarta's Wahabbi schools?"
Yes. However, this LIE is based on the belief that ALL muslims are in fact waging a Jihad against the US.
When Obama's mother remarried, it was indeed to an Indonesian man named Lolo Soetoro, whom his stepson describes as a "non-practicing" Muslim. But it was his "secular" mother who supervised his education, Obama has written, sending him to both Catholic and Muslim primary schools after the family moved to Jakarta. There is nothing on record to indicate Obama attended a madrassa (Muslim religious school) run by Wahabbists, and in any case it's unlikely his mother would have chosen to expose him to such an extreme form of Islam given her stated abhorrence of religious closed-mindedness and her stated goal of giving him a well-rounded education, including in matters of faith. CNN has tracked down the school in question, the Basuki School in Jakarta, which a deputy headmaster described as a "public school" with no particular religious agenda. "In our daily lives, we try to respect religion, but we don't give preferential treatment," he told CNN. A classmate of Obama's described the school as "general," with students of many religious backgrounds attending. Obama entered the school at the age of 8 and attended for two years.
Is it true that "Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim while admitting that he was once a Muslim?"
Once a Muslim? When? Unless I missed it while reading Obama's two books, the senator has never mentioned being a Muslim at any point in his life. Yes, he lived in a Muslim country during part of his childhood and briefly attended a Muslim school there, but he certainly wasn't raised a Muslim and has never been, so far as I can determine, a practitioner of that faith. That anyone, let alone a sitting U.S. senator with designs on the highest office in the land, would conceal being a Muslim for twenty-odd years while going through the outward motions of practicing Christianity (or vice-versa, for that matter) is a truly bizarre accusation. I'd be tempted to dismiss it as paranoid lunacy if it weren't so obviously a crass, politically-motivated smear.
Is Barack's middle name Hussein?
Yes it is. WHO CARES? That would be like me saying the following. Hillary's middle name is RODHAM, which looks like Rodman, which kinda sounds like Ramadan--holy cow, she must be a Muslim. George Bushes middle name is Walker, which is a type of Scotch--which must mean he is still an alcoholic. And Fred Thompson's middle name is Dalton, which was an infamous group of outlaws in the Old West--which automatically means he is a criminal from the 1890s.
Was Barack Obama sworn into office using a KORAN?

Article VI of the US Constitution states: The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.
This is actually a reference to Minnesota congressman, Keith Ellison, not Barack.
Did Barack join the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background and become an elected official?
Barack describes himself as a Christian and has been doing so since he joined the church TWENTY years ago, more than 10 years before he became interested in politics.
Is it true that Barack Obama will not recite the Pledge of Allegiance or show reverence for the flag?
This was part of another JUNK email I have received several weeks ago. There are several document cases of Obama reciting the pledge and singing the anthem with his hand over his heart.
While I think forwards are GREAT when they have a well-indended PURPOSE, I hate to receive NEGATIVE forwards with absolutely no factual legs to stand on. Please forward this information BACK to anyone who sent you this forward, as it is only fair to give everyone the research details of each of these ridiculous claims.

Also loved the point about being sworn in on the Kuran. 100% true. You can get sworn in on anything, say the Bill James handbook would work for me.
